Memorial Day weekend is approaching, so we figured the campsites are going to get busy. We have actually booked ahead for 4 nights. The first two nights are in a funky little town called Moab and the last two are at Mesa Verde.
Moab is the town which gets you access to the Arches National Park. Sadly, we couldn't get booked into the National Park campsite, so we are staying in one of the "lots of amenities, but pack 'em in tight" private campsites.
We really don't like the private campsites, even though you are hooked up to electricity, water and waste disposal, the sites are completely soulless.
However, this is where a camper van comes into it's own. At first light, we get out the campsite and head to Arches park. We stop at the car park for the first viewing spot, get some (almost sunrise) pictures and then have breakfast.
Next we go to the most popular viewing spot and get one of the last parking spots. We head to the incredibly busy Delicate Arch, take our photos, return to a leisurely lunch.
We then head to Landscape Arch, where it may look like I am doing nothing, but I am actually very busy waiting for the light to change, so that I can get a better picture.
Finally, we have supper at a lovely panoramic viewpoint, before heading off out the park at sunset taking a few extra photos as we leave.
So we can return to the soulless campsite after dark, close the curtains, pretend we are somewhere else and head off before first light in the morning!

Looks like you hit the jackpot with sunset! Rocks are so saturated in warm sunset light. Gorgeous!
